| What is Vaastu Shastra?
Eco Dream will employ the principle of Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui in the construction of homes in our subdivisions.
Vaastu Shastra is the Indian science of space and architecture and how we may create spaces and environment that supports physical & spiritual health and prosperity.
Vastu Shastra evolved during Vedic times in India. The concepts of Vastu Shastra was transferred to Tibet, South East Asia and finally to China and Japan where it provided the base for the development of what is now known as Feng Shui.
Vastu Shastra is the art and science of designing houses, offices, temples etc that swirl with good energy.
Indian Maharajas and Moghul Emperors used Vastu Shastra when they built their symmetrical palaces, artificial lakes, and geometric courtyards that thirstily absorbed positive energy
Vastu Shastra
Vastu Shastra is an ancient science energy flow throughout the house/office/factory that allows inflow of fresh air and natural light that promotes health, wealth, peace and happiness.
The most ancient science of architecture that goes back to the Vedic ages, it is composed of specific rules and regulations, set down by sages of those times, that an architect / builder / owner was expected to religiously follow to avoid coming under negative or evil influences. Today, it is looked upon as a highly evolved, comprehensive building philosophy in which directions and shapes are the most vital aspects of designing.
Right from the selection of site to correct slope of land down to the shape of the building, this oldest form of architecture covers nearly every aspect of construction. Not only for houses but temples, palaces, forts, offices...just about every possible form of construction. Often providing relief if not cures to physical or emotional problems simply by relocating an entrance, window or room.
Some of the important points made therein are:
Directional Alignment
- Shape Of The Site
- Slope Of The Land Surface
- Impact of Gates At Various Locations
- Brahmasthan (Central Zone of the Building)
- The Staircase
- Inner Planning of a House
- Inner Planning of an Office
FENG SHUI: is an Asian name for an ancient natural science of energetics. (The science was initially Chinese, but the Japanese derivation have variations which are well developed.) Energetic science refers to the study of the movement of energy around, through and its impingement on, natural objects, artificial structures and people, and the manner in which the effects of such energetic activity manifest. In one perspective, it is a study and application of metaphysics; however, the results of these effects can be observed and studied using empirical methods, giving it the nature of a practical and real science.
Feng Shui gives us the scientific tools to apply basic practical energetic law to everyday life. Feng Shui literally translates to "Wind-Water", suggesting the power of the influence these elements have over shaping the topography of the face of the earth and the peoples lives who dwell thereon. Moreover it also refers to an underlying energetic force which is thought to actually determines the path of and drives the wind and the water. (As you may imagine, this (Ch'i) force has incredible power.) By having a "rule book" of how these forces work, we then can apply this knowledge to how we face (or site) our buildings to the compass, to the prevailing weather, to the topography, to rivers and lakes, etc., and then to the placement of landscape elements, to the placement of rooms inside buildings, and objects within rooms, and to the management of our lives.
Concomitantly, it is widely used in the interpretation of existing buildings. In existing buildings, sites and settlements, a Feng Shui study reveals harmony/disharmony, balance/imbalance, benefits and challenges, and generally provides us with much useful information about our environment. The study and knowledge base is extensive.
In China, evidence exists that Feng Shui has been studied and practiced for 2000 to 4000 years, depending on who you believe. But, moreover, there are hundreds of millions of Asians that observe and practice it, in various styles and levels of familiarity, in their daily lives, and accept it as a matter of fact. That it is now becoming popular in the Western world is a product of growing cultural discovery.
Feng Shui may be utilized to structure, adjust, harmonize and balance the artificial environment with the natural environment. Harmonizing, utilization, and balancing of our lives, according to Feng Shui, has the potential to bring in a favorable experience with a degree of the power and force of that self same energetic that is suggested in the forces of wind and water. If done well great rewards result. These are practical rewards of improved living, health, better marriages or partnerships, greater wealth, and personal peace of mind.
When combined with good physical structures maintained in tip top shape, and good natural health practice, superior living emerges and blossoms.

Feng Shui in the West,
And A Few Comments:
|
|
|
Modern Western culture has suffered in degrees from ignorance of this science, and further suffered by associating it with social negatives and religious heresy, superstition, and other publicly debauched spiritual and metaphysical, and energetic practices. This deficiency of knowledge is in part a kickback from the political suppression of a beautiful set of sciences which once anciently flourished in Europe. Metaphysics and Energetics deal with real but subtle natural phenomenon, and should not be confused with spiritualism, or spirituality. Metaphysical experiences are not spiritual experiences, although spiritual experiences may have metaphysical or energetic attendances. This is because metaphysical and energetic laws are subject to and governed by spiritual laws and powers. Highly spiritually developed beings (in the flesh or not in the flesh) understand the metaphysical, and energetic realities, and can harmonize with them or control them. Metaphysical occurances may affect, but do not control spirit beings --but then, that is another topic.
Eastern (or, Asian/Oriental) culture has benefited tremendously from a knowledge of many of the facets of energetic science, including Feng Shui. Eastern culture has traditionally had little of the constraints of the Western culturally adapted Judeo-Christian ethic ( which has very little to do with Jehovah and the real Christ or the related teachings); and, therefore was able to develop a common sense and practical use of energetics, including Feng Shui. In a sense, it is unfortunate that historic Eastern culture has largely lacked the beautifully coordinate teachings if the Old and New Testament, and related documents records and works, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Book of Mormon, the Torah and the related overlying and interlinking spiritual genealogy. (No, the genaelogy is not perfectly coherent --what is; and the cohesiveness I refer to is contrversial among some --again, what else is new; but taken as a whole, there is much power in each and all together.). But, spirituality is not lacking in Asia. Metaphysics, including energetic science is a bridge to spirituality, and a bridge of a high order.
A thorough study of the recognized teachings and revelations of God Almighty and Jesus [this generally is intended to include the study of God in its myriad non destructive forms], inevitably lead to a discovery --or at least an awareness -- of metaphysical laws, occurances and realities; and a study of metaphysics, and the practice of focused harmonization with its laws paves a road to enlightenment and a knowledge of God.
If, we in our lives, can combine the understanding of metaphysical and energetic laws, the knowledge of modern Western interpreted natural science, and the strength of a relationship with God, we will likely come as close to joy, peace and transcendence as mortality allows.
Feng Shui is a type of knowledge, science and practice that has occurred in all traditional societies in various eras. These sciences have emerged simply because their realities exists. Although in many ways subtle in their manifestations, their effects are discernable by the astute observer.
A related example is somewhat evidenced in the pyramid type structures, and upper potions of the pyramid structures, that can be readily seen throughout the world. These pyramids structures occur in every land continent and major island. Interestingly, from an aerial view, they all line up in a type of pattern. The relationship between Feng Shui and the pyramids is that the pyramids encompass much of energetic science. These structures all line up consistently with the compass, are located in specially energetic (and auspicious) places, and they change the energy flow of the immediate vicinity, and in some cases the entire region. They also have a form and presence of their own which can be felt and measured. Their consistency and power are undeniable. They follow strict rules in construction. And, while they are subject to the deterioration of nature, and the misguided alterations of man, they survive from a another time period in a way that little else does. Other interesting and ancient archetypal structures that also survive likewise have unique energetic qualities, and affect the environment around them.
Feng Shui attempts to explain and codify the rules that various related natural energy (simply called Ch'i) follows. The most straightforward application of Feng Shui deals mainly with earthly surface effects; advanced application encompasses cosmic energy (e.g Feng Shui Astrology, 9 Star Ki, etc.), and some forms of subterranean energy and earth energy. Various manifestations of energetic science have existed in other forms by other names, and will continue to manifest in perhaps new ways with new names. While a vast study, and a lifelong journey, for many dedicated practitioners, the study of Feng Shui can help simplify the study of energetic complex phenomenon.
